Bafauri Recipe -How to make Bafauri
Bafauri is a simple and light snack made from masoor daal, onions and mix of spices and served with tomato and coriander spicy chutney. It makes for a healthy alternative for a fried pakoda. This dish is native to Chhattisgarh, Bihar.

Cooking time 10 minutes
Ingredients:
- 1 cup masoor daal
- 1 medium sized onion chopped
- 1- inch ginger grated
- 1 green chili chopped
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1/2 teaspoon red chilli powder
- Salt to taste
- Handful coriander leaves chopped
Method:
- Soak masoor daal in water for more than 2 to 3 hours.
- Drain the water and grind it to make a smooth paste.
- Transfer all the paste to a mixing bowl.
- Add all the ingredients and mix it well.
- Heat the steamer and when the steamer is ready to steam, first grease the idli stand with the oil.
- In a steamer, pour the batter into each greased idli mold and steam in a steamer for 8 to 10 minutes.
- Cool slightly, demould and serve hot.
