Lobia/cowpea is a good source of protein. Spiced and tasty chawla fali and potatoes stir-fry made in Punjabi style. This easy and quick to prepare Punjabi recipe is made with minimum ingredients and yet taste very good.

Ingredients:
  • 250 grams Chawla Fali
  • 2 Potato
  • 2 tablespoon oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • A pinch of asafoetida
  • 1/2 inch grated ginger
  • 1 green chili chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1/2 teaspoon dry mango powder
  • A handful chopped coriander leaves
  • Salt to taste
Method:
  • First, we clean and chop Chawala fali.
  • Peel potatoes and chopped.
  • In a thick bottom pan heat oil.
  • Add cumin seeds and asafoetida.
  • When seeds color changes Add grated ginger and turmeric powder and saute for a minute.
  • Now add potato and saute for a minute.
  • Now add green chilly and chopped Chawala Fali.
  • Add salt and mix well and cover it for 3 to 4 minutes.
  • Now stir and checked, if not cooked then cover it again and cook until both veggies will get cook.
  • Now add red chili powder, coriander powder, garam masala and dry ginger powder.
  • Mix well and add chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with chapati, paratha or puri.
