Amla or the Indian gooseberry is a fruit which is popular for its many health benefits. Amla is a good source of vitamin C. Amla, no matter in what form it is consumed, always sums up a great source to our body. It helps improves the digestive system and strengthens our immunity.
I am using jaggery for making amla gatagat. Jaggery can provide the body with the much needed warmth in winter season. Amla gatagat is an amazing dessert recipe that is loved by the kids.
Made with easy boiling of amla, this recipe won’t take much time to make if ingredients are ready.
Ingredients:
- 250 grams amla
- 250 grams jaggery(grated)
- 1 tablespoon dry mango powder
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- A pinch of asafoetida
- 1/2 lemon juice
- 1/2 teaspoon chat masala powder
- 1/2 teaspoon roasted cumin seeds powder
- 1/4 teaspoon carom seeds
- 1/4 teaspoon black salt
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon dry mint powder
- 1/2 cup sugar powder
Method:
- Boil the amla in a pressure cooker only for one whistle and let the pressure release by itself.
- when cool, remove the seeds and separate the segments.
- Grind these segments in grinder and make a smooth paste, didn’t add water.
- Heat a pan and add grinded amla paste and add grated jaggery.
- I am using grated jaggery to take lesser time to melt.
- When jaggery melt add all spices except sugar powder.
- Cook it until all moisture will evaporate.
- Now cool it completely and make small size balls.
- Now roll these balls in sugar powder.
