Dahi aloo is an easy and delicious recipe of potatoes simmered in curd sauce. This is a great change to our usual meals and you really relished it. My recipe has no onion, no garlic, and no tomatoes. The best part about this dahi aloo recipe is its simplicity. It has few ingredients but the flavors really shine through.

Ingredients;

  • 1/2 cup – curd
  • 4 medium size boiled potatoes
  • 2 teaspoon – coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon – red chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon – turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon – dry mango powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon – garam masala
  • A pinch of – Asafoetida
  • 1/4 cup chopped coriander leaves
  • 1 teaspoon – Kasuri methi
  • 1 teaspoon – grated ginger
  • 1chopped – green chilly 
  • 1 teaspoon – cumin seeds
  • 2 tablespoon – oil
  • salt to taste

Method :

  • First we take curd and add red chilli powder, coriander powder and dry mango powder and mix it.
  • Take boil potatoes and cut half and pork so that potatoes absorb flavours.
  • Heat oil in a wok and shallow fry boiled potatoes.
  • Fry potatoes until golden golden brown then add 1/4 turmeric powder and 1/4 teaspoon red chilly powder and saute for one minute.
  • Remove potatoes in a plate and add cumin seeds in oil.
  • When seeds crackle add ginger and asafoetida, green chilly,turmeric powder, coriander powder and saute.
  • Add 1/4 cup water and now add curd and keep stiring.
  • There is a chance of curdle of curd.
  • When curd boil then add fry potatoes, salt and garam masala and chopped coriander and kasuri methi.
  • Mix well and saute for one minute.
  • Our dahi aloo is ready for serve.
