Modak is a sweet stuffed dumpling offered to Lord Ganesha as prasad/naivedyam during Ganesh Chaturthi puja. Lord Ganesha loves modak hence he is also called modak priya.
Vinayaka Chaturthi or Ganesh Chaturthi is a festival celebrating the birth of Lord Ganesha. It is said that the lord loves modak so these are made in every home celebrating this special day.
Paan(betel leaves) and nariyal(coconut) are auspicious for any puja in Indian custom tradition.
Absolutely easy and delicious, this modak and center filled gulkand gives a wonderful twist to this paan modak.

Preparation Time – 20 minutes
Cooking time – 10 minutes
Serving for 7 modak
Ingredients:
- Desiccated coconut -1 1/2 cup
- Condensed milk – 1/2 cup
- Betel leaves – 3
- Gulkand – 2 tablespoon
- Cashew nuts – 7 to 8
- Almonds – 7 to 8
- Pistachio – 7 to 8
- Green color – a pinch
- Green Cardamom -2
- Supari (pass pass)- 1 tablespoon
- Wash betel leaves and chop them.
- In a blender, blend paan leaves and some cashew nuts, almonds, and some water. Blend until these are well combined.
- Heat a pan and add condensed milk, paan leaves mixture, coconut, and green color.
- Roast it for 4-5 minutes or cook until the mixture thicken.
- Let it cool down for 5-6 minutes.
- In another bowl add gulkand, cardamom powder, cashew nuts, almonds, pistachio, and Pass Pass and mix well. Our stuffing is ready.
- Now take Modak mould and grease it with ghee.
- Take a small portion of the paan-coconut mixture and fill this in the modak mould .
- Press this in such a way to make a cavity in the center where you can stuff the gulkand mixture.
- Add a dollop of gulkand in the center and cover it with a paan mixture to seal the cavity.
- Put modak in a plate.
- Prepare the remaining modak in the same way.
- Set in refrigerator for 30 minutes and then serve.
